One of the marks of professing Christendom (whether genuine or nominal) around the world throughout all the centuries has been the ongoing division of professing Christians into different theological camps, centered on different theologians. While just this fact leads to confusion, what makes the fog even thicker is the realization that all these different theological systems come from the minds of men whom the Knower of all hearts, who is the very Subject of their study, says their hearts, which include their thinking (Genesis 6:5), are deceitful above all things and desperately wicked, to the point where no mere creature can know it (Jeremiah 17:9-10).

While this sad fact would tempt us to think that we can never know who God is, another, greater fact dissolves that despair. That fact is that God the Son, the second Person of the Triune God of the Bible, came to this earth to reveal God the Father to us (John 1:18). The Son came as a Man, in all aspects other than sin (Hebrews 4:15), as the Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:14). So, who better to be a theologian, or one who teaches what and who God is, other than a Divine Person?

The sum of the matter is this: if we want to identify with a theologian, and consequently a theological camp built on that theologian's teaching, let's embrace the Lord Jesus Christ as that Theologian and Christianity, His teaching in all the Bible's 66 Books, as that Theology!
