This week, I want to take a break from the Proverbs series to do a post on a subject I'm really passionate about bringing the Lordship of Christ to bear on: womanhood.
One of the most persuasively potent worldviews that Satan has raised up against Biblical Christianity is feminism. If humanism's defining motto is "Man [both male and female] is the measure of all things," feminism's could be "Woman is the measure of all things." So, since we Christians are dealing with a rival worldview that, in effect, puts woman in God's place, we need to address it at its roots. As Christian presuppositional thought has demonstrated in areas like epistemology and morality, in order to truly and most effectively refute any false worldview/religion, we must proclaim, by faith in Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit, God in His rightful position as the Center of the universe (for He is the Creator of all things) and, by doing so, topple all idols, or all who wish to steal that throne, from their fake pedestals. Just as we need to show that God, through His Word, is the sole rightful Definer and Interpreter of His creation, so we need to show, also through the Bible, that God is the only legitimate Definer and Interpreter of His image-bearers, women, as well as the Definer and Interpreter of their freedom, dignity, etc. And it is my prayer to be used of God to bring about a movement in His people where Biblical thought concerning womanhood is held, defended, and advanced. Now, a movement has been going on for at least decades now to establish Biblical womanhood's nature and its superiority to feminism. So, I'm not claiming that anything I've said up to now or will say later in this post is original with me, but only that these things are burning in my heart and I want to get them out there, with the prayer that God will use it to the advance, defense, and edification of His Kingdom. So, all that said, what I'm going to propose here is an outline for how Christians can think Biblically (i.e., Christianly) concerning womanhood.
1) Know all the Bible passages concerning God's creation of woman and thereby formulate His definition of woman as your definition.
2) Know that the heart of God's Law is loving God with one's whole being and loving one's neighbor as one's self (Matthew 22:34-40).
3) Know that sin is violation of God's Law (1 John 3:4) and therefore how, since the essence of God's Law includes loving one's neighbor as one's self, breaking that law is hating one's neighbor. In other words, God defines misogyny, or hatred of women, as disobeying His commands.
This is only a summary, but I hope it will be used for God's glory!
