Hi, everyone!

Okay, so I'll try to get back on my responses to anti-Christian arguments from ex-believers. So, here goes!

One argument that ex-believers give against the Bible is that you can use it to justify any belief or practice because it's unclear and therefore has no objectively correct interpretation.

So, what would be a good response to this argument? Well, I would like to say "Yes, I would like some pizza, thank you very much!" The objector whom I would respond to in that way (and I'm certain you yourself as you're reading this) would be like "What? What on earth are you talking about?" And to that, I would say "Hey, people can interpret your words in all sorts of ways!" I hope my point here is clear: this argument is ridiculous because we all know, on an instinctual level, that meaning in communication (in all forms of communication) is objective. And the same is true for the Bible. The rules of interpretation aren't fundamentally different because it's a "religious" book. And there's another factor that shows that this argument isn't serious: most likely, the people who will be making this objection will bring accusations against the Bible that assume its intent is clear in all those parts of Scripture they find distasteful. So, if someone says "You can make the Bible say anything, because it's so unclear" and also charges the Bible in any part (or parts, plural) to be unambiguously false and/or immoral, you know you're dealing with someone who is arguing in bad faith.

Anyway, that's the objection I wanted to deal with here! May God bring about the eternal good of all you who are reading this, bringing you to repent (i.e., change your mind) and believe in His Son if you have not done so already and conforming you more to the character of His Son if you are already a believer in Christ!
