The American Dream is that dream many people have of finding a good life in America. This "good life" is a life of wealth. And this wealth is possessing as many of God's created things as possible.
So then, what would the "Christian dream" be? Well, what does God, through His Word, define as the "good life?" In John 17:3, the Lord Jesus Christ defines eternal life as knowing God the Father and Himself (i.e. God the Son). This knowledge is not merely an intellectual knowledge, but acquaintance with the God of the Bible (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) that involves the Christian's entire person, both as a whole and its individual parts. This is the eternal life that we must trust in Christ to receive (John 3:14-16).
Therefore, the Christian dream can be summed up this way: all men and women, because they are the sons and daughters of sinful Adam, are born and raised in the poverty of sin. Then, the Holy Spirit, through the Written Word of God (i.e. the Bible), shows certain men and women true riches. What are these true riches? Christ, in His glorious character! That's what these true riches are. The Holy Spirit opens the blind eyes of these men and women to see the worth, glory, and beauty of these true
riches, as well as the worthlessness, shame, and ugliness of all false riches. The Spirit of God then makes these men and women trust in Christ, not any created thing. By this faith, these men and women possess the true riches. This is the Christian dream!
