Through hearing about the preaching methodology of verse-by-verse Scriptural exposition, I've wondered if the same or a similar methodology would work for a Christian artist making art (by which I include fictional storybooks, films, pictures, paintings, music, songs, poems, games, video games, etc.). So, I want to develop and lay out here a similar methodology to help my brothers and sisters who serve Christ in the arts develop their creativity for God's glory.
1) Prayerfully and thoughtfully read and meditate on the passage in your Bible-reading schedule.
2) Extract the attribute (or attributes) of God that stick out to you in your reading.
3) Prayerfully think about how to artistically display the attribute (or attributes) of God in a way that, first of all, fully accords with the Bible's teaching on that attribute, and, secondly, fully accords with the Biblical aesthetic.
Here's an example: 1) a Christian meditates on one of God's commands to care for the poor. 2) The Christian takes the command and embodies it in a character. 3) The Christian writes a story centered on this character, taking God's command out of the abstract and giving a concrete illustration of it.
