NOTE: This is not professional medical, psychological, therapeutic, etc. advice of any kind. This series of articles consists only of my thoughts and reflections. If you need any kind of help that is medical, psychological, therapeutic, etc., seek help from professionals in these areas! For psychological issues that aren't physical (or aspects of psychological issues that aren't physical), seek counselors and therapists who are Bible-believers and who will help you according to a Biblical framework!

It appears that, soon, I will be getting professional psychological evaluation as to whether or not I have Obsesseive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD). My desire and prayer is that it will result in my receiving much-needed psychological help that I'm chastising myself for not getting sooner. I also desire and pray for grace from God for discernment to accept what accords with His Word and reject what doesn't. Because God created, and therefore comprehensively knows, the human soul.

So, as part of my effort to deal with my potential OCD outside of a professional psychotherapeutic setting, I want to write my thoughts on OCD as I attempt to think about it from a Biblical perspective.

And, because this article is the introduction, what I'll do here is describe my methodology for understanding OCD. For the first three posts in this series, I will try to analyze each of the three words in OCD (one word per post) and see what we can find about these concepts in Scripture. Then, for the following posts, I will examine what the Bible says or implies about what to do to solve the problems that OCD is characterized by.

I pray this series will be a blessing, both for myself and for others who want to follow Jesus!
