Media Forces for Local Churches: An Introduction

Even though it's something so obvious that it doesn't even need to be stated, media has tremendous power and influence. For the multitudes who distrust mainstream media, alternative media rushes in to fill that void. People judge and act based on the perceptions that the media feeds them. Not that media causes people to do anything, but it doubtless influences them to act. All those factors have played into something that has been on my mind lately: churches having media forces, which are means of mass-communication and mass-dissemination of information. Given that media are such forces to be reckoned with, to the extent where truth and facts can be denied, minimized, fogged over, overlooked, etc., I think it would be wise for churches to have such media capabilities. And I choose the word "forces" deliberately, because, in cases where churches are slandered (and I mean TRULY slandered, not when they're rightly held to account for their sins), it can be an all-out war in getting the truth out about situations and exposing the lies that are obstructing people's views about the realities of such cases.

So, with all that said, plus with the admission that I'm at least somewhat repeating what I said earlier, I suggest that local churches have media forces, which are means of mass-communication and mass-dissemination of information. This is not for churches to spread false positive messages to inaccurately inflate their reputations in the public eye, but rather to counter false messages against them and, in the cases of when there is truly sin in them, to truthfully and effectively demonstrate how they are rectifying such wrongs so that they may be vindicated to the glory and praise of God, since churches are to be representatives of Jesus Christ and, whenever they are either truly or falsely accused of evil, are the targets of anti-Christians with media power. And, given how God, in His providence, is advancing media technology to such an astounding degree, it may be surprisingly easy for local churches to acquire effective media-production tools and media-distribution tools. So, I will dedicate a series on this blog about truths concerning Biblical communication and how they can be utilized by local church media forces to accomplish the goals I have described here. If a local church wants to follow this proposal, they MUST remember to put their trust in the Lord ONLY, otherwise they will build and use media forces completely in vain (Psalm 127:1)!

May God equip all true churches of His with all that they need to fulfill His purposes for them, which purposes the Holy Spirit reveals and communicates via His Word!
