It's my opinion that believers can use God's Word to learn "secular" skills. One of these skills, as this post's title states, is songwriting.

Rather than present a step-by-step process here for how Christians can use the Bible to learn songwriting, I want to briefly present a principle for how this may (emphasis on "may") work: remember how 2 Corinthians 3:18 says that believers, when they behold, as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are changed into that same image by the Spirit of the Lord? Well, turning that principle into a principle for skill-learning (specifically, songwriting) (and, again, I'm not saying Scripture itself teaches this principle, but rather that believers should experiment with this principle to see if God will use this method to teach them so-called secular skills), think of Christ as a Songwriter, since God's Word is partially composed of songs (Psalms, Song of Solomon, etc.) and Christ is God (John 1:1-18). Behold Christ in how He has written the songs that His Spirit has breathed out (2 Timothy 3:15-17) in Scripture! And, when your heart, by faith, beholds the Lord's songwriting through your meditation on the songs of the Bible, perhaps you will learn how to write God-glorifying songs! Your songs, if such faith-based and meditative beholding enables you to write them, won't be God-breathed (a quality only of the Biblical songs) but they will be beautiful and God-glorifying!
