The Christian (the true Christian, that is) is one who loves God with all his being (Luke 10:27). Our intellect, or our thinking, is one aspect of our being. Obviously then, we are to love God with our intellects.

Here, I want to outline an idea for how my fellow Christians, especially those as interested in God-glorifying intellectual pursuits as I am, can use their intellects to strengthen their love for God:

1) Think of any subject, whether it be “religious” or “secular.”

2) Meditate on how God, in His Word, reveals Himself through that subject.

3) Write a prayer to God that 1) addresses Him directly in the beginning, 2) addresses Him about who He is as you’ve learned through that subject (but make sure you’re analyzing that subject ONLY through the lens of Scripture), and 3) thank Him and praise Him at the end for who He is, based on everything in the body of your prayer.
