I'm still planning on writing and publishing future posts for my "Using Politics for Spiritual Illustrations" series, as well as other kinds of posts. But I also want to start a new series right now about another topic that has captured my interest. Comedy. Specifically, a Christian philosophy of comedy. In this post, I want to 1) define what a Christian philosophy of comedy is and 2) describe how I plan to go about making posts that elaborate on what a Christian philosophy of comedy entails.

First, what is a Christian philosophy of comedy? Comedy is "humorous entertainment" [1]. Given that entertainment is "a form of activity that holds the attention and interest of an audience or gives pleasure and delight" [2], we can define comedy as attention-getting and enjoyable activities that make people laugh. A philosophy is "a theory underlying or regarding a sphere of activity or thought" [3]. "Christian," as an adjective, means "of Christ." And, because Christ is God (John 1:1-18) and the Bible is the Word of God (2 Timothy 3:15-17), the Bible is the Word of Christ (Colossians 3:16), "Christian" and "Biblical" are synonyms. So, with all this information in mind, we can say that a Biblical/Christian political philosophy is a theory of comedy, or humorous entertainment, taught in the Bible, which is the Word of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Second, how do I intend to go about this new series? For each post, I will cover a comedy-related topic from a Biblical perspective. My purpose, in each post and in this series as a whole, will be to, by God's grace, equip Christians with the knowledge and skills to use comedy to glorify God, rightly using humor.

I pray this series will be Truth-based and a blessing to all who read it!
