Self-help is "the action or process of bettering oneself or overcoming one's problems without the aid of others especially... the coping with one's personal or emotional problems without professional help" [1].

Self-help is an idolatrous, worldly method, because the essence of it, as its very name indicates, is looking to self, rather than God, as one's help.

So, let's consider the Christian alternative: Christ-help. Here, a person looks to Christ as his Help. It is the action or process of Christ bettering a person or overcoming that person's problems, through trust in Christ alone. Christ-help includes, but is not limited to, dealing with one's personal or emotional problems through trusting Christ and, by that trust, following His guidance.
