Note: This post is, mostly, a reworked version of a previous post, applying the ideas of that previous post to writing sermon notes. Here is the link to that previous post: https://www.awriterforchrist.com/post/how-to-write-a-christian-fiction-story

1) Write down the primary Biblical truth that is being expounded in the sermon. Your story's protagonist will embody this truth.

2) Write down the opposite of the Biblical truth being expounded. Your story's antagonist will embody the opposite of the Biblical truth.

3) Write down a conflict between your protagonist and antagonist where, if you were the reader, both 1) the glory of the Biblical truth (as embodied in the protagonist) and 2) the shame of the lie that is the opposite of that truth (as embodied in the antagonist) will shine the most brightly.

4) Write down your story. Your story will consist of 5 steps: 1) Introduction; 2) Inciting Incident; 3) Rising Action; 4) Climax; 5) Falling Action; and 6) Resolution. Write down one sentence for each step of your story. All these sentences together will comprise your story.

Remember this rule as you write your story: show, don't tell!
