A New Year's Resolution

With this day being the start to a new year, many people have, of course, planned new year's resolutions. Christians, recognizing the ways they fall short of God's glory, often make resolutions to either 1) overcome specific sins they have given in to and replace them with the virtues of Christ that are the opposites of those sins in their lives or/and 2) implement changes in their lives that are not, in and of themselves, spiritual or righteous but which, they desire, will help facilitate Christlikeness in their hearts and their lives. In this post, I want to give a type of resolution that falls under the second aforementioned category. This resolution will not be one I intend on following, but I offer it for those who will find it helpful!
So, what is this resolution I propose for those Christians who would desire to follow it? It is this: taking each day of the year to meditate on one specific thing that God has made. Given the fact that God is literally the Creator of all things, your faith, thoughts, and emotions have an indescribably wide buffet to feast on in this exercise! And one vital thing I want to add here: since God created the universe "very good" (Genesis 1:31) and perfect, with that perfection being broken by Adam's sin and consequent fall (Genesis 3), make sure to meditate on what the created thing you are reflecting on would be like without the curse on creation that sin merited and which will be undone in the New Heavens and New Earth! But, while you are doing so, don't forget to think just as deeply on the goodness that God has still granted that thing to have even in this fallen creation!
HAPPY 2025!!!
